FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (SCTP)
GENERAL ENQUIRIES ON SKILLSFUTURE CAREER TRANSITION PROGRAMME
The SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP) is a train-and-place programme that supports mid-career individuals in acquiring industry-relevant skills to improve employability and pivot to new sectors or job roles.
Official website: SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme | Education, Career and Personal Development
The SCTP programme is open to all Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents and Long Term Visit Pass Plus holders (LTVP+). As the employment status of the learner is not an eligibility criterion for SCTP, both unemployed and employed individuals can participate in SCTP courses. The programme also does not place any constraints on learners’ activities outside training hours, including taking on part-time employment, as long as they continue to fulfil all the training commitments which include minimum course attendance and the passing of assessments.
Learners must be at least 21 years old in the calendar year of programme commencement to be eligible for SCTP.
However, do note that submitting an application does not guarantee a place in the course. Acceptance into the course will be subjected to ACI's evaluation of each applicant's suitability, taking into account factors such as the physical demands of the training and the learner's ability to benefit from the programme and eventually secure a job placement.

TRAINING ALLOWANCE (TA)
Minimum age eligibility is set at 40 years old and is based on birth year, not the date of birth. For example, if the individual turns 40 years old on 1 April 2025 and applies for a Full-time SCTP on 1 January 2025, he/she will be eligible for TA.
Workfare Skills Support (WSS) (Level-Up) provides training allowance for lower-wage workers aged 30 and above. To check if you are WSS-eligible visit here
The Training Allowance is credited into your PayNow account linked to your NRIC only.
*PayNow to NRIC is mandatory
TA is currently available for individuals pursuing a full-time or part-time SCTP with a min average of (i) course duration of no less than 3 months and (ii) a monthly average of 90 training contact hours. Details of Training Allowance, visit here
No. Individuals can only have one active TA at any one time.
For Full-Time TA, TA is computed at 50% of the individual's average income in the 12 months preceding the course start date, based on income records from government sources (i.e., CPF or IRAS). If the individual has income records in the reference period, they will receive a TA between $300 to $3,000 per month. The maximum eligible period to receive TA is capped at the approved training duration of the course by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
To illustrate: Mr Tan has been earning a monthly average income of $5,000 since 2024. His TA offer is based on 50% of $5,000, which is $2,500 per month.
For Part-Time TA, individuals need to be employed for at least 1 in the 12 months preceding the course start date or application date, whichever is later, based on income records from government sources (i.e., CPF or IRAS). If the individual has at least one income records in the reference period, they will receive a TA of $300 (flat rate) per month. The maximum eligible period to receive TA is capped at the approved training duration of the course by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
To illustrate: Ms Lim has been employed since 2025, with a monthly income of $5,000. She is eligible for Part-Time TA of $300 per month.
Eligible individuals can log into the MySkillsFuture Portal (https://www.myskillsfuture.gov.sg) and click on ‘View and Apply Training Allowance’, to view their estimated TA.
TA quantum is computed based on the income records available over the latest available 12-month period. If there is no income during this period, the computed TA will be zero and hence the individual will not be entitled to any TA. Applicant can log into the MySkillsFuture Portal (https://www.myskillsfuture.gov.sg) and click on ‘View and Apply Training Allowance’, to check their estimated TA.
Make-up sessions must be completed by the following month. If the make-up sessions cannot be completed within the time period (30days from module end date), the trainee will not be eligible for TA.
Visit SkillsFuture Portal FAQ page for TA : SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT
Individuals are responsible for ensuring they have access to Singpass app with a mobile device (functioning phone camera, QR scanner app & data plan) to capture e-attendance at each session. Failure to clock in a minimum of 75% attendance will deem the learner as ineligible for training allowance(TA) and assessment.
If you missed class with a valid reason but attendance falls below 75%, you must complete the make-up session to maintain 75% attendance. Do note that an individual will not be eligible for TA if attendance falls below 75%.
A one-time complimentary make-up session will be provided for approved leaves of absence (LOA). Subsequent make-up sessions are available at a fee of $350 (before GST) per three-hour block (AM or PM) on weekdays only.
Should you miss class and still achieve at least 75% attendance and deemed as competent after assessment, no make-up session is required.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
As SCTP operates on a Train-and-Place modality, ACI will provide career advisory and employment assistance to help learners in their job search in Food Services sector or related job roles. However, there is no guarantee of a job placement, and learners would need to be open to the job opportunities available.
SCTP trainees will receive the following support:
- Career advisory services
- Curated Career Day event for trainees to find out more about the hiring companies and position openings
- Interview preparation briefing
Trainees shall attend the necessary events and briefings conducted by ACI.
Upon completing the SCTP, participants are expected to secure employment in roles aligned with their training. For this programme, placement is defined as:
- Full-time or Part-time employment, or
- Self-employment, such as starting a business.
Examples of valid job placements include:
- Joining a new company in a restaurant/hotel
- Starting a business or engaging in freelance/gig work related to F&B industry.
Trainees should take an active role in pursuing employment opportunities and are advised to begin applying for suitable positions as they are near programme completion.
